Hæmoglobin
Hæmoglobin er det molekyle, som fragter iltmolekylerne fra lungerne ud til musklerne. Hæmoglobin er det stof, som gør vores blod rødt. Kan også betegnes som blodstof.
Hæmoglobinmolekylet kan transportere fire iltatomer ad gangen. I musklerne bliver ilten overgivet til proteinet myoglobin og hæmoglobin optager affaldsstoffet CO2, der transporteres med tilbage til lungerne hvor det udskilles i udåndingsluften.
